Dr. Smith graduated Cum Laude from Weber State University. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. At Louisville, Dr. Smith was awarded membership in an honorary professional dental organization recognizing academic achievement. Following dental school, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, working daily with specialists in oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics and pediatric dentistry. While stationed with the U.S. Air Force in England, Dr. Smith was made the officer in charge of Preventive Dentistry, with additional training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. That posting helped shape his conservative, preventive approach to dental treatment.
